Two men and two children have been injured this afternoon when two bakkie collided on the R24 outside a nature reserve in Krugersdorp.

ER24 paramedics responded to the scene and on arrival found the two mangled vehicles on the side of the road.

The male driver of the one bakkie was found lying in his vehicle in a critical condition while the male driver of the second vehicle lay trapped inside, also in a critical condition. A boy (7) and girl (9) were found seated in the back of the second vehicle with moderate injuries.

Once freed, paramedics provided both drivers with advanced life support interventions.

The driver of the first vehicle was airlifted by the ER24 Helicopter to a private hospital while the second driver and two children were transported by ambulance to Krugersdorp Hospital.
