SAPS Rapid Rail police embarks on Rail Safety Awareness Campaign in support of Safer Festive Season operations.

Pretoria: – The South African Police Service (SAPS) cordially invites the media to the Rapid Rail Safety Awareness Campaign in support of the Safer Festive Season operations – Operation Back to Basics 2016/2017.

The awareness campaign forms part of the SAPS’s Back to Basics approach. It is aimed at sensitizing and raising awareness amongst rail commuters regarding crimes that are prevalent in the rail environment and furthermore to ensure a safe and secure festive season period.

Rapid Rail Police will ensure optimal police visibility in the rail environment through the deployment of police officials in line with the expectations and needs of the commuters and stakeholders.

The proceedings will take place in two phases:

Phase One (Awareness campaign and interaction with commuters on trains)

Phase Two (Interaction with commuters and media engagement)
