On Friday 23 May 2025 at 15:50, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Overloads Unit Officers, arrested a male suspect aged forty-nine(49) years old for possession of stolen motorcycle and other charges in the Bedfordview area.
While conducting law enforcement duties, they spotted a suspicious motorcycle on Dean and Van Buuren Road without breaking lights. Officers proceeded to stop the Black SYM motorcycle and upon inspection it was discovered that the license disc affixed was fraudulent with no records. After conducting a systems check, which came back positive with a Norkem Park CAS number as a Bigboy motorcycle.
Furthermore upon requesting for a driver’s license, which the suspect failed to produce and made Officers aware that he was from Malawi. Officers requested to see his valid passport which he also failed to produce.
Officers handcuffed the suspect who was detained at Bedfordview Police Station. He is facing charges of possession of stolen motorcycle, fraud and contravention of section 41 of the Immigrations Act.
