On Sunday afternoon, 20 July 2025, the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) successfully traced and arrested a suspect linked to serious criminal allegations in the Sophiatown area, including two (2) counts of attempted murder and one (1) count of murder. Acting on a vital tip-off regarding the suspect’s whereabouts, AGU members quickly proceeded to George Flat in Westbury.
Upon arrival, the suspect attempted to evade capture by locking the door. However, the AGU’s rapid response enabled them to effectively apply Section 22 of the Criminal Procedure Act, Act 51 of 1977, leading to the successful arrest of the 28-year-old suspect.
The suspect has been detained at a local police station and is expected to appear in court soon to face the charges against him.
