The Vala Umgodi Task Team makes significant seizures and arrests in Sekhukhune
The Sekhukhune District Vala Umgodi Task Team conducted multiple operations on 06 July 2025, resulting in several arrests and the confiscation of illegally transported minerals.
At approximately 18:00, the team stopped a side tipper truck along the Atok gravel road. Upon inspection, the truck was found to be loaded with minerals believed to be chrome. The driver, a 28-year-old male, was unable to produce any proof or permits authorizing the transport of such minerals. Consequently, the vehicle, along with its load, was confiscated. The driver was arrested and charged with illegal transportation of minerals and illegal immigration, as he was found to be an undocumented immigrant.
Later, at around 20:30, while patrolling the gravel road at Ga-Pasha, the team arrested four African males, aged between 27 and 45, for contravention of the Immigration Act.
These operations underscore the police’s ongoing commitment to combating illegal mining activities and immigration violations. The police will continue to work tirelessly to uphold the rule of law and protect our natural resources.
