A weekday multidisciplinary #OperationShanela2 descended to Orlando and Diepkloof, Soweto, on Thursday, 28 August 2025, where the police arrested more than sixty (60) suspects.
One suspect was arrested after he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as the law enforcement officers were conducting a stop and search at Diepkloof Hostel. Eight other suspects were arrested for possession of drugs.
Working together with the Department of Home Affairs, the team arrested forty-six (46) Illegal immigrants at the roadblock that was conducted at Chris Hani Road. Four illegal liquor outlets that are regarded as the generators of crime in Orlando and Diepkloof were closed down.
