An integrated operation between Elsies River police and LEAP on Saturday night led to the arrest of a 40-year-old male when he was caught with an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The members were conducting stop and search operation in Holly Crescent, The Range, when they saw a male walking in the road and when he saw the police vehicles he started running. The members gave chase and apprehended the suspect. He was found in possession of a .38 Special revolver with five rounds of ammunition.
In an unrelated matter, members of the Delft Crime Combatting Unit, received information about two males who are robbing people and the whereabouts of the suspects were given. They searched the premises where the suspects were found and found a .38 Special revolver and an imitation firearm were found in their possession. The two Burundian national adult males were arrested and face charges for the illegal possession of a firearm and possession of an imitation firearm.
Furthermore, members of the Tygerberg District Crime Combatting Unit, searched a vehicle in Bentley Street and found 1402 mandrax tablets and 709,05 gram crystal meth in the vehicle. They arrested a 26 year old male for the possession of drugs.
Once charged the suspects will make their respective court appearances in Goodwood and Blue Downs.
