A man, estimated to be around 30 years old, was found deceased in dense bush after multiple gunshots were heard by members of the public in Ezimbomvini in Ndwedwe – KZN this afternoon(Tuesday).
Residents contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre at approximately 17:13 after hearing the shots and discovering the man’s body lying in the bush outside a local residence. Witnesses reported that the deceased was being chased by two individuals on foot, while a third suspect remained seated in a white vehicle parked a few metres away. After the shooting, the assailants fled on foot to rendezvous with the waiting driver at the top of the road.
RUSA Paramedics responded to the distress call. Upon arrival, they found the man in a semi-prone position, unresponsive. He had sustained gunshot wounds to the left side of his neck, another to the left side of his chest with an exit wound through his back, and a third to his left shoulder. He showed no signs of life and was declared deceased at the scene. The man was not known in the area and his identity remains unknown at this stage.
The motive for the shooting remains unknown.
