WESTERN CAPE – Members of Operation Shanela II deployed in Bishop Lavis arrested a suspect for the possession of drugs during crime prevention operations to curb gang violence in the area on Thursday.
The members were conducting stop and search operations when they received information from the public about drugs at a premises. They operationalized the information and searched the identified premises in Taaibos Street, Bonteheuwel. The members found 162 packets containing crystal meth, mandrax tablets, cocaine and an undisclosed amount of cash in the house. A 22-year-old male was arrested for the possession of drugs.
Operation Shanela II deployments in Delft searched a premises in Minnesota Street, Delft, where they confiscated 34 mandrax tablets, four half mandrax tablets and 39 small packets containing crystal meth. A 39-year-old man was arrested for the possession of drugs.
The suspects will make their respective court appearances in the Bellville and Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ court on Friday.
