Man nabbed with unlicensed firearms during Operation Vala Umgodi
A 44-year-old male suspect was arrested during Operation Vala Umgodi, after being found in possession of unlicenced firearm. The team assigned for the Operation Vala Umgodi cornered the suspect at Masoyi on Wednesday, 30 July 2025, after receiving a tip-off.
The astute members swiftly followed the information, and upon arrival at the said area, a search was carried out whereby a hunting rifle with about 63 live ammunition were recovered. The serial number of the firearm was filed off. It was during this time when the man was apprehended. The firearm will undergo ballistic testing
The suspect was charged for possession of an unlicenced firearm with ammunition, and he is expected to appear at the Masoyi Magistrate’s Court soon.
