Operation Basadi conducted in Kimberley
SAPS members from Kimberley, Kagisho, Public Order Police, Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit, Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit, Municipal Traffic, Provincial Traffic, and the Department of Home Affairs successfully conducted Operation Basadi duties in and around Kimberley on Friday 1 August 2025.
A formal parade was led by Colonel KC Makobo, Head of Kimberley Vispol, with Brigadier Nicholas Mtongana serving as the overall operational commander.
Two roadblocks were simultaneously held along the N8 and N12 national routes. During these operations:
150 vehicles were stopped and checked, and 347 individuals were searched.
Two firearms were inspected, three J534 admission of guilt fines were issued to the value of R1,800-00.
Fourteen traffic fines were issued to the value of R11,700-00
Two undocumented males, aged 29 and 41, were arrested and detained.
In addition, high-visibility patrols and stop-and-search operations were carried out in identified hotspot areas as part of ongoing crime prevention efforts.
Operation Basadi will continue throughout the month of August, reinforcing the SAPS’s commitment to community safety and gender-focused policing initiatives.
