Cash In Transit Robbery N2 South before KwaMashu (M25)- KZN

Members of Empire Protection Service received numerous reports of a CIT in progress on the N2 South before KwaMashu, member’s made mobile to the robbery in progress.

On arrival, It was established that heavily armed suspects opened fire on the G4S cash vehicle during peak traffic forcing it to a stop.

The suspects thereafter detonated explosives and blew up the truck.

They fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and the firearms from the armed guards.

A cellphone belonging to one of the suspected suspects was recovered on scene and will be used as evidence to investigate further.

No injuries reported to the driver and three crew members.

The N2 northbound and southbound have currently been shutdown in the vicinity of the M25 and M41 to further investigate the incident.
