On Wednesday, 23 July 2025, a Provincial infrastructure operation was conducted in Zandspruit to address illegal electricity connections in the area. The operation involved coordinated efforts from multiple teams, including SAPS, JMPD, Crime Wardens, and Eskom.
The initiative proved highly successful, resulting in the recovery of the following items:
8 damaged 50Kva transformers, valued at R480,000
6 damaged 100Kva transformers, valued at R480,000
3 removed 50Kva transformers, valued at R180,000
5 removed 100Kva transformers, valued at R400,000
2 removed 200Kva transformers, valued at R220,000
50 meters of cable removed, valued at R3,000
The total recovered value amounts to R1,763,000.
