Equipment seized in Kagisa linked to illegal mining
The Illicit Mining Unit conducted an intelligence-driven operation in Rietvlei Extension 2 and 3 in Kagiso, on 18 August 2025. The operation resulted in the seizure of abandoned equipment suspected to be linked to #IllegalMining activities. The seized items include Phendukas, a generator, electric motors, steel balls, hammers, drive chains, long steel chains, a spade, electric cords, a wheelbarrow, and a hosepipe.
This operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Illicit Mining Unit to disrupt and dismantle illegal mining activities in the area.
