Tshwane Metro Police Department Crime Prevention Unit Recover Hijacked Vehicle in Rapid Response

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Crime Prevention Unit successfully recovered a hijacked white Mercedes-Benz in Mshongoville, Atteridgeville, on Sunday, 07 June 2026.

Following a swift and coordinated response to a hijacking and kidnapping incident. The ordeal began in Sunnyside, where a male victim was hijacked and kidnapped shortly after dropping his sister off at her residence.

The suspects forced the victim into the vehicle and drove off, later releasing him in Laudium. The suspects then abandoned the vehicle at a funeral service in Mshongoville.

Utilizing vehicle tracking technology, TMPD Crime Prevention members acted rapidly on the coordinates, locating the vehicle at the funeral site. The vehicle was recovered slightly damaged and returned to its rightful owner.

The Chief of Police Commissioner YCR Faro, highly commends the members involved for their vigilance and commitment to duty, which ensured the swift recovery of the vehicle and, most importantly, the safety of the victim.
