Lexus South Africa reimagines movement and modern luxury at Decorex 2026

June 27, 2026 • News

Lexus South Africa proudly announces its partnership with Decorex 2026 Africa’s leading design showcase for the fourth consecutive year. The continued partnership with Decorex aligns Lexus with this year’s evocative theme, The Soft Life, a celebration of intentional living, quiet luxury and restorative design. In a world that rarely slows down, Decorex 2026 invites visitors to pause, breathe and reconnect with spaces and experiences that nourish rather than demand. This cultural shift away from relentless hustle towards balance, beauty and calm resonates deeply with Lexus’s philosophy of human-centred design, omotenashi hospitality and reimagined luxury mobility.

“At Lexus, design is not simply about aesthetics, it’s about how something makes you feel. Our continued partnership with Decorex reflects a shared belief that true luxury lies in intentionality, craftsmanship and the ability to create moments of calm and connection. As our hero vehicle, the Lexus RZ 550e F Sport captures this beautifully,” said Tasneem Lorgat, General Manager Marketing and Communications for Lexus South Africa.

At the heart of Lexus’s presence is RECHARGE, an immersive installation which will be featured at both Decorex Johannesburg and Cape Town. Through RECHARGE, Lexus presents a spatial experience that explores movement, stillness and the emotional quality of design, offering a quieter, more intentional way of arriving and transitioning through space.

Anchored by the all-electric Lexus RZ 550e F Sport, RECHARGE explores how the future of driving is not only electrified but more intuitive, refined and emotionally attuned. Purpose-built as Lexus’s first dedicated battery electric vehicle platform, the RZ 550e F Sport represents a bold expression of the brand’s design evolution. Within the RECHARGE installation, the RZ 550e F Sport is positioned as a design object and a catalyst for reflection, inviting guests to reconsider how movement can feel softer, quieter and more restorative.

Blending elements of a lounge and a threshold space, the installation invites visitors to experience the idea of arrival as a moment of renewal rather than destination. This approach reinforces Lexus’s commitment to elevating everyday journeys through thoughtful design.

This philosophy extends beyond the installation, with Lexus continuing to offer its signature concierge service for VIP guests. The Lexus concierge service will ensure a seamless and considered journey, to and from Decorex.

A meeting of design, craft and cultural expression

Central to Lexus’s activation is a bespoke collaboration with acclaimed South African artist Tshepo Sealetsa to bring the RECHARGE installation to life across both cities.

“Partnering with Tshepo allows us to celebrate South African creativity while pushing the boundaries of what automotive design collaborations can look like. His ability to translate emotion into form perfectly complements Lexus’s design ethos,” added Lorgat.

Known for his distinctive Afrofuturist aesthetic and bold visual storytelling, Sealetsa’s work introduces a uniquely local lens to the global language of luxury design. His interpretation of RECHARGE fuses technology, artistry and African narratives, creating a multisensory experience that reflects both innovation and cultural depth.

Commenting on the collaboration, Tshepo Sealetsa said, “This collaboration with Lexus gave me the opportunity to reimagine everyday spaces as something more intentional and emotionally resonant. RECHARGE is about creating a moment of pause. This is where design, light, texture and movement come together to reflect a softer, more conscious way of living. It’s a celebration of African creativity within a global design conversation.”

Following previous Decorex themes focused on the future and impact, The Soft Life embraces calm, comfort and quiet sophistication. With a palette grounded in warm, earthy tones and a focus on sustainable intentional craftsmanship, the exhibition reflects a broader global movement towards wellness-led living.

For Lexus, this moment represents a natural evolution of its design philosophy:

  • Human-centred innovation that prioritises wellbeing
  • Takumi craftsmanship that elevates detail and quality
  • Electrified mobility that supports a more sustainable and considered future

As part of a collective vision at Decorex 2026, Lexus will contribute to an experience that is visually compelling, deeply human and emotionally resonant. Through RECHARGE and the RZ 550e F Sport, Lexus offers a powerful interpretation of this philosophy, where design, mobility and lifestyle converge in harmony.

Decorex 2026 commences in Cape Town from 25-28 June and in Johannesburg between 30 July-2 August. Tickets are available at www.decorex.co.za.
