Today, Thursday 12 March 2020, Western Cape Minister of Transport and Public Works, Bonginkosi Madikizela will officially hand over Erf 14407 to the Ou Tuin Community in Paarl, in the Drakenstein Municipal area.
The Ou Tuin Community Property on which the La Rochelle hockey fields is situated was originally a property of the Western Cape Government. However, the property was subject to a land restitution claim and was transferred free of charge to the National Department of Rural Development and Land Reform for the purpose of settling the land restitution claim.
Minister Madikizela will officially hand over documentation of the property to its rightful owners and sign a lease agreement giving La Rochelle permission to make use of the premises.
Minister Madikizela will be joined by Drakenstein Mayor, Conrad Poole during the official handover of the land parcel and the signing ceremony of the lease agreement.
