Firearms arrest at the Lungqongqweni locality, Lusikisiki
Off-duty members of the SAPS OR Tambo District Task Team, responded to a complaint of an armed robbery in the Lungqongqweni locality, Lusikisiki, on Tuesday, 7 April 2026. They arrested two male suspects who were found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol with an erased serial number and one live round of ammunition.
The two male suspects of the same locality, armed with a 9mm pistol, were robbing high school learners residing in the locality. Community members cornered the suspects until their arrest on police arrival. Two cellphones which were robbed at gunpoint from other learners on Friday, 03 April 2026, were recovered from the two male suspects. The duo was positively linked to the armed robbery that occured on that particular Friday, 03 April 2026, where two cellphones and cash were robbed.
