Suspect arrested in connection with the robbery and intimidation of an e-hailing driver in Eldorado Park
Members of the Eldorado Park SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, alongside Gauteng Traffic Wardens, arrested an alleged suspect in connection with the robbery and intimidation of an e-hailing driver earlier today.
According to preliminary information, the driver was robbed of his cellphones in Eldorado Park Extension 1 by two male suspects who allegedly threatened to kill him if he reported the incident to the police.
Following the victim’s description, members traced the suspects to Eldorado Park Extension 3. The suspects fled in different directions upon noticing the police, but both were successfully apprehended.
One suspect was identified as the person #WANTED in connection with two outstanding attempted murder cases relating to incidents in Eldorado Park Extension 1.
The second suspect was found in possession of a cellphone. When requested to unlock the device, he was unable to provide the PIN. The phone’s profile picture matched the description given by the complainant, and it is believed to be one of the devices stolen from the e-hailing driver.
The suspect was subsequently arrested for possession of suspected stolen property, detained at Eldorado Park SAPS for further police investigation, and will appear in court soon.
