EMPD officers arrested 6 male suspects for various crimes and recovered a reported stolen motor vehicle, in the Benoni and Springs areas.
Between Thursday, 09 and Friday, 10 July 2026, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Eastern Region Task Team and Tracing Unit Officers, in conjunction with the South African Police Services (SAPS) Etwatwa Detectives, arrested six (6) male suspects for various crimes and recovered a reported stolen motor vehicle, in the Benoni and Springs areas.
Officers received an intel regarding a lookout, of a stolen motor vehicle. The white Toyota Fortuner was located abandoned in Dawn Park area, matching the description of the reported stolen vehicle. All relevant stakeholders were called to the scene, and the recovered vehicle was later taken to the police vehicle pound, for safekeeping.
In a separate operation, in the Springs area, three (3) undocumented males were apprehended for failure to produce valid documentation. They were detained at the Springs Police Station.
Furthermore, Tracing Unit Officers, together with Etwatwa Detectives, arrested three (3) wanted persons on separate occasions. The suspects are facing charges of contravening a protection order, assault, and an outstanding warrant of arrest. They were detained at the Etwatwa Police Station.
All six (6) suspects are expected to appear before the relevant Magistrate’s Court soon.
