High-density and disruptive operations in Elsies River, Manenberg and Mfuleni

Members attached to #OperationLockdown III performed high-density and disruptive operations in Elsies River, Manenberg and Mfuleni, and seized drugs and an illegal firearm and ammunition.

On 2026-07-06 at about 18:40 the members were busy with operations in Leonsdale, Elsies River, and followed up on information regarding drug dealing at a premises in 9th Avenue, Leonsdale.

They reacted to the information and a search was conducted at the premises where mandrax, tik and an undisclosed amount of cash were found and seized. A 46-year-old suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs.

Later that evening at about 20:20 the members received information of two males on a motorcycle in possession of a firearm. Further information led them to a flat, in Olivia Court, Heideveld. The members operationalized the information and went to the said address where seven persons including two females aged 34 and 41 and five males aged between 23 and 38 were found. The flat and suspects were searched and members found a 9mm Barretta pistol with 21 rounds of ammunition. The suspects were arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition. They were all detained at Manenberg #SAPS.

Early Tuesday morning, 07 July at 02:00 the members were assisting Crime Intelligence members following up information about a premises in Shire Street, Mfuleni where firearms are stored and drugs are sold. Upon their arrival, the occupant and premises were searched. An undisclosed amount of cash, 154 packets of tik and nine mandrax tablets were found in his possession. The 38-year-old suspect was arrested for the possession of drugs and detained at Mfuleni SAPS.

The suspects will appear in the Goodwood, Athlone and Bluedowns Magistrates courts for their respective charges soon.
