The continued execution of #OperationShanela2 in the Namakwa District has resulted in the arrest of three alleged drug dealers following a successful intelligence-driven operation in Kharkams.

On Friday, 17 July 2026, at approximately 21:30, members of the Namakwa District Task Team, supported by Namakwa Crime Intelligence, executed a search and seizure warrant (J51) at a residence in Berg Street, Kharkams.

Upon their arrival, members tactically approached and secured the premises, where three adult male suspects were found.

A thorough search of the residence resulted in the seizure of quantities of mandrax, tik and dagga with an estimated street value of R11 942.00. Police also confiscated an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing.

The three suspects were arrested and charged with dealing in drugs. They remain in police custody and are expected to appear in the Springbok Magistrate’s Court soon.

The District Commissioner of Namakwa commended the members for their commitment and dedication to disrupting the illegal drug trade and reaffirmed that SAPS will continue to intensify operations aimed at removing drugs and other criminal activities from communities.
