26-year-old male arrested in possession of a prohibited firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
Elsies River Crime Prevention Unit members remain committed to ensuring public safety. On Tuesday 25 November 2025 at approximately 13:30, members followed up on intelligence received about a gang affiliated male residing in Staal Court, Clarke Estate, Elsies River. They found the 26-year-old male in possession of a prohibited firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
Meanwhile, Crime Prevention Unit members of Kensington SAPS were monitoring a funeral of a known gang member at Glider Crescent, Facreton when they heard gunshots on the next street.
They rushed to where the sound was coming from and spotted the suspects who jumped into a white Renault motor vehicle and sped off. A high speed chase ensued until the driver of the Renault lost control and hit a stationery vehicle. Members proceeded to search the vehicle and found one black Glock firearm without a serial number and 30 rounds of ammunition. Four male suspects and a female were arrested, they will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s court on Thursday 27 November 2025.
