Four-day intensive operations focused on disrupting the supply of illicit substances within the Mangaung District.
In a concerted effort to ensure a safer Easter Weekend for the residents of Mangaung, the Free State Provincial #AntiGangUnit (AGU) successfully executed a self-initiated tactical operation between Thursday, 02 April 2026, and Sunday, 05 April 2026.
The four-day intensive operation focused on disrupting the supply of illicit substances within the Mangaung District. Utilizing search and seizure warrants, members targeted several identified properties across Bloemfontein known for drug trafficking activities.
On Thursday, `02 April (Chris Hani Square & Heidedal): At approximately 11:30, the team apprehended two males (aged 36 and 48) at Chris Hani Square for dealing in drugs after Mandrax tablets were discovered. Additionally, a 38-year-old suspect wanted for a prior theft incident in Heidedal was successfully tracked and arrested.
On Friday, 03 April (Ipopeng): Between 12:15 and 16:00, the unit descended on Ipopeng, resulting in the arrest of four suspects (three males aged 25, 34, and 37, and one 42-year-old female) for dealing in Mandrax.
On Saturday, 04 April (Phelindaba): Operational duties shifted to the Phelindaba location, where two suspects (aged 24 and 39) were caught in possession of a variety of narcotics, including CAT, Crystal Meth, and Mandrax.
On Sunday, 05 April (Heidedal): The final phase of the operation concluded this morning at 08:30 in Heidedal. A 32-year-old male was arrested after being found in possession of Crystal Meth and Mandrax.
The South African Police Service can confirm that the total estimated street value of the drugs seized during this operation amounts to R137, 000.00. In addition to the narcotics, an undisclosed amount of cash, suspected to be proceeds of crime, was confiscated.
