Stop-and-search leads to arrests and confiscation of illegal ammunition in Cullinan

On Tuesday, 19 January 2016 at about 11:00 , Cullinan SAPS, Crime Prevention Unit members together with the members of Cullinan Metro Police, arrested 9 suspects for possession of live ammunition in Refilwe Cullinan area.

Police members were conducting stop and search duties when they spotted a suspicious male and stopped him. The suspect was searched and members found a small box of ammunition in his possession. Police continued with the questioning until the suspect confessed that he had been running an illegal ammunition business, together with 8 other suspects. The police were then led to other suspects who were also searched and, found ammunition in their possessions.

The Bronkhorspruit K9 Unit was also engaged for a thorough search and more live rounds of ammunition were confiscated. The 9 suspects were arrested and will appear before Cullinan Magistrates Court soon.
