Taxi and car collide in Midrand injuring 12

12 people were injured this morning after a taxi and light motor vehicle collided on the R562 in Midrand, north of Johannesburg.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene shortly after 08h00 this morning.

On arrival, paramedics found a taxi and light motor vehicle in the middle of the road.

On inspection, paramedics found the driver of the taxi lying trapped inside his vehicle. Rescue services had to use specialised rescue equipment to free the man.

All 12 patients were assessed and found to have sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.

Paramedics treated the patients and provided them with advanced life support interventions. They were thereafter transported to various hospitals for further treatment.

The cause of the collision is under the investigations of local authorities.
