Volkswagen Group South Africa receives Legends of Empowerment & Transformation 2016 award at the 15th annual Oliver Empowerment Awards

Volkswagen Group South Africa (VWSA) was recently awarded the Legends of Empowerment & Transformation award by Oliver Empowerment. This honorary award which is given at the discretion of the Oliver Empowerment Awards Editorial Board, was presented to VWSA at the Oliver Empowerment Award gala dinner event held at the Emperors Place in Kempton Park.

The Legends of Empowerment and Transformation Award honours companies and individuals who have made a significant contribution to transformation in South African. The award aims to inspire and encourage other corporate companies to support transformation.

VWSA was honoured together with 14 other leading South African companies for its work in business innovation and best practice. VWSA was the only automotive company to receive this award in 2016. The presentation of the award coincides with the Volkswagen’s Black-Owned Supplier’s Day that will take place in Uitenhage on 5 May 2016. This pioneering event and the first in the automotive industry, builds on VWSA’s commitment to transformation by driving economic empowerment and diversity.

“At VWSA, we will continue to be pioneers in empowerment and transformation. We will continue to be innovative and introduce best practices in the automotive industry. It is an honour for us to be recognised in this field,” said Thomas Schaefer, Chairman and Managing Director of VWSA.

The Oliver Empowerment Awards give the South African business community the opportunity to recognise outstanding leaders, individuals and organisations in the field of empowerment and transformation.
