Woman killed in collision on the R56 in Pietermaritzburg
A woman has died and an elderly man is in a critical condition after a bakkie and a vehicle collided with each other on the R56 in Pietermaritzburg.
The exact detail to the cause of the accident will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
Netcare911 paramedics worked alongside other services on scene.
The jaws of life had to be used to extricate both the woman and man who were both drivers from their vehicle’s.
The elderly man was stabilised on scene and transported to a nearby hospital under the constant care of an Advanced Life Support Paramedic for further medical care.
The middle-aged woman was declared dead on scene by a Netcare911 paramedic.
This accident happened this afternoon at about 12h30.
