Upgrade of Main Road P499
P499 is the link between KwaMbonambi and Dondotha in the uMfolozi Local Municipality, under iNkosi Mthethwa. The construction of P499 enables the Umhlanga community to benefit from the improved infrastructure, by bringing services to Nceleni, Bangicala, Ekuphileni, Mayawula, Mazambule and Makhandeka areas. It also provides access to six schools, the Mbonambi Police station, Dondotha clinics and the Dondotha Pension Pay point.
This project entails the upgrade of gravel road to 8,5m wide surfaced road including one box Culvert Structure. This road is 12,4km long and starts from KwaMbonambi and ends at Dondotha.
The project has been successfully completed during 2015/16 financial year at a total cost budget of R120.02 million and created 2083 job opportunities
