Two motorists arrested for reckless and negligent driving in Kingsway
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) High Speed Unit Officers, arrested two male suspects, aged twenty-nine (29) and forty-nine (49) years in Kingsway
During routine law enforcement duties, officers deployed with high-speed monitoring equipment, on a road with a designated speed limit of 80km/h. A grey Daihatsu and a grey Mercedes-Benz were clocked at 125 km/h and 116 km/h, respectively.
When stopped, both drivers failed to provide valid reasons for exceeding the speed limit. With video evidence captured on site, officers proceeded to arrest both suspects for contravening the National Road Traffic Act (Act 93 of 1996).
The suspects were detained at Benoni Police Station and are expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.
