Four suspects arrested in connection with the possession of illegal firearms, ammunition, and conspiracy to commit murder
Vigilance and timely action by the police in Vryburg on Monday night, 8 December 2025, led to the arrest of four suspects in connection with the possession of illegal firearms, ammunition, and conspiracy to commit murder. Crime Intelligence had received information about a suspicious white Ford Ranger with unknown occupants, allegedly on its way to commit a murder in Ganyesa.
Vehicle patrols from the Tactical Response Team (TRT), Public Order Policing (POP), and Visible Policing (VISPOL) were deployed to track the suspects. The suspicious vehicle was located at a nearby garage. Upon searching the vehicle on Market Street, two pistols with several rounds of ammunition were found hidden in a bag inside the vehicle.
The occupants could not provide a valid explanation or proof of ownership of the firearms and were immediately arrested for possession of illegal firearms and ammunition.
The suspects Tumelo Gompe (44), Tshepiso Mangate (43), Rasake Matsapa (33), and Sefatsa Ramokoni (28), appeared before the Vryburg District Court on Wednesday, 10 December 2025.
They will remain in custody until their next appearance on Monday, 15 December 2025.
