School search operation at Norkem Park High School and Birch Acres Secondary Schools.
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Social Crime Prevention Unit Officers, in conjunction with the South African Police Service (SAPS), Gauteng Crime Prevention Wardens and the Community Policing Forum (CPF), conducted a school search operation at Norkem Park High School and Birch Acres Secondary Schools.
The purpose of the operation was to maintain discipline and order within the school environment, while also preventing crime, violence and substance abuse among learners.
During the operation, Officers also raised awareness about the dangers of substance abuse, bullying and the possession of dangerous weapons on school
premises.
The following items were seized during the search, x2 knives, x11 vapour devices, x7 nicotine products, x1 box of matches and suspected space cookies and sweets.
