Friday:

09:00 – 13:00
Major highways affected:
N1, N3, N12, M1, R21, R24, and R512

Saturday:

08:00 – 10:00 and 13:00 – 14:30

According to Jacaranda FM, the closures are to simulate the movement of world leaders’ motorcades, and roads will be entirely closed during these times.

Alternative Routes Recommended:

M57 instead of R21 (Johannesburg–Pretoria)

Beyers Naudé Drive instead of R512/N1 (west/northwest travel)

Within Sandton, Rosebank, and Parktown, use side streets parallel to Jan Smuts, Oxford, Rivonia, Corlett, and Sandton Drive

In southern Johannesburg, use Chris Hani Rd, Main Reef Rd, Crown Wood Rd, and Soweto Highway/N17
