Two foreign nationals arrested for possession of illicit substances in the Kempton Park area.
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Community Liaison Unit (CLU) Offices and Northern Region Task Team, in collaboration with Gauteng Traffic High Priority Crime Unit Officers, apprehended two (2) foreign nationals aged thirty-seven (37) and thirty-nine (39) for possession of illicit substances in the Kempton Park area.
Officers received a tip-off about suspects transporting drugs and swiftly responded. On Tungsten Road in Isando, they stopped a silver-grey Honda vehicle matching the description. Upon searching the vehicle, Officers discovered x7 wrapped boxes containing raw Khat (a drug commonly referred to as the Somalian drug).
The illicit substances were taken to Arwyp Hospital for weighing and confirmed to be valued at approximately R200 000. The drugs and the suspects were detained at Kempton Park Police Station.
They are expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court soon.
