Four suspects arrested in possession of two unlicensed firearms, 33 rounds of ammunition, and a bag of cocaine.
SAPS management in the Western Cape welcomes the arrest of four gang-affiliated males on Sunday, 18 January 2026. Crime Prevention Unit members of Muizenberg SAPS received credible intelligence about a gang group planning a shooting in Overcome Heights. They pounced on the address provided and found the four suspects in possession of two unlicensed firearms, 33 rounds of ammunition, and a bag of cocaine. They were arrested, and the planned shooting was prevented. Once charged, they will appear in the Muizenberg Magistrate’s Court.
Meanwhile, members of #operationshanela2 arrested a 71-year-old male for possession of an unlicensed firearm in Makhaza. At around 20:22, members searched a house in Makhaza and recovered a Ruger .44 revolver firearm with four rounds of ammunition. The suspect will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charge.
Furthermore, #AntiGangUnit members followed up on information about a firearm concealed at a house in Rugby Street, Beacon Valley. Upon arrival, they spotted a male suspect who ran inside the house, and they gave chase. A thorough search of the premises was conducted, and members found a .457 revolver firearm with 17 rounds of ammunition hidden under clothes in a wardrobe.
The suspect was arrested and will appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court once he has been charged.
