Suspects arrested on charges of robbery with a firearm.
An intelligence-driven operation led to the arrest of five suspects, aged between 21 and 41, on Thursday, 12 February 2026, for an alleged robbery with a firearm.
It is alleged that on Friday, 06 February 2026, two unknown males, one of whom was armed with a firearm, entered the victim’s yard at Vaalrock Section, Rammolutsi, while she was on the phone.
They pointed a firearm at her and took her cellphone. The two suspects then accessed the school’s banking app and transferred an undisclosed amount of cash, later disposing of the cellphone on a gravel road towards a farm in Viljoenskroon.
On Thursday, 12 February 2026, it was detected that the SIM card from the stolen phone had been inserted into a different cellphone, which led to the arrest of the five suspects. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime was seized.
The five suspects are expected to appear before the Viljoenskroon Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of robbery with a firearm.
