Suspects facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as well as possession of a stolen vehicle.
Two suspects, aged 41 and 49, are set to appear before the Ngcobo Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 04 March 2026, facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as well as possession of a stolen vehicle. The suspects were arrested by members of the Chris Hani Tactical Response Team (TRT), Komani Dog Unit (K9), and Engcobo detectives.
It is alleged that on 02 March 2026, Chris Hani District SAPS received information about a robbery that occurred between Komani and Dordrecht, where two foreign nationals were robbed of their money. One of the victims reportedly sustained a gunshot wound and was rushed to hospital for treatment. Following the incident, the suspects fled the scene in a white double-cab Isuzu bakkie with GP registration plates, carrying an undisclosed amount of the victims’ money. The vehicle was later spotted on the R61 near Polile Township and stopped by police.
During a search of the vehicle, police recovered a 9mm pistol with its serial number filed off, ammunition, liquor, cash believed to have been stolen from the victims, and cellphones belonging to the victims. The bakkie was also confirmed to have been reported stolen in Khayelitsha in November 2023 and was seized.
The suspects are scheduled to appear before Ngcobo Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 04 March 2026.
