17 suspects arrested on charges of dealing in drugs in the Garden Route District.

A clamp down on drug outlets as part of ongoing crime combatting operations yielded positive results with the arrest of 17 suspects on charges of dealing in drugs in the Garden Route District.

The operations commenced on Friday, 06 March 2026 and concluded this morning, Sunday 08 March 2026.

The operations involved the deployment of various units armed with search and seizure warrants. The successful operations were executed at Riversdale (7) Knysna (4), Oudtshoorn (2) Dysselsdorp (2), Albertinia and Pacaltsdorp. The police confiscated mandrax, tik and dagga during the operations.

On Friday, 06 March 2026, Riversdale police members responded to information when they raided a house at White Street, Riversdale. Upon their arrival the members found six occupants on site.

A search of the premises ensued leading to the confiscation of 30 sachets containing tik and 19 mandrax tablets. Police arrested the six suspects aged between 17 and 26 each on a charge of dealing in drugs.

Later the same day, 06 March 2026, the team proceeded to a house at Rosebud Street, Kwanokuthula in Riversdale where they conducted a sting operation. The members confiscated a small quantity of mandrax and arrested two men aged between 25 and 28.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, 07 March 2026, Oudtshoorn Crime Prevention Unit members conducted an intelligence driven operation at a premises situated at Thabo Mbeki Square, Oudtshoorn. The members proceeded with a search of the premises when they found 298 Mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R17 000 and eight cellular telephones believed to be stolen items. Police confiscated the drugs and cellular telephone. A 42-year-old man was arrested on charges of dealing in drugs and possession of suspected stolen property.

All arrested suspects remain in police custody. They will appear in the respective courts once charged.
