An inter-departmental roadblock was conducted on the N1 near Trompsburg, involving various units of the South African Police Service (SAPS), including Provincial Communication, Walk-on-Fire, the Department of Health, the Department of Labour, Free State Emergency Medical Services, GCIS, University of the Free State Health Services, Xhariep District Traffic Department, Free State Provincial Traffic, as well as mobile clinics from the University of the Free State and the Department of Health. The purpose of the roadblock was to ensure the safety of all road users.

The operation focused on searching for illegal substances, such as drugs, and unlicensed firearms, as well as checking the roadworthiness of vehicles. Road users were also provided with first aid to assess their fitness to continue driving and were advised to rest at safe places during their journey.

During the operation, police arrested ten illegal immigrants. A total of 750 vehicles were stopped and searched, and seven fines were issued in terms of the National Road Traffic Act. Health services were rendered to 146 patients, with two referred to hospital and seven treated at the mobile clinic.
