Members of the Bloemfontein Flying Squad arrested a 29-year-old female, for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

On Saturday, 30 May 2026, at approximately 19:00, members conducting a routine Vehicle Check Point (VCP) pulled over a suspicious vehicle.

While interacting with the occupants and inspecting the vehicle, the alert members noticed nervous and suspicious behaviour from the passengers. The occupants were requested to alight from the vehicle for a tactical search.

During the search, the officers successfully recovered one (1) .38 revolver firearm and five (5) live rounds of ammunition. The weapon and ammunition were found in the possession of a 29-year-old female passenger. She was immediately arrested and detained on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court soon. Police investigations continue.
