Fatal crash in northern KZN

Earlier this afternoon there has been a fatal crash on the R33 at Scheerpers Neck, between Dundee and Vryheid, in northern KZN.

The crash occurred at about 13h30 and was between a car and minibus. Sadly one person, a man aged about 22 years old, who was an occupant of the minibus has passed away.  Paramedics from the Department of Health’s Emergency Medical Services treated a total of 18 people who had sustained injuries.

The injured included an eight month-old boy and two year old girl. The nature of the injuries sustained by the patients varied, with one patient sustaining critical injuries and two patients in a serious condition. The remaining patients had all sustained minor injuries.

Once stabilised, the patients were transported to hospital for continued medical care.

The exact cause of the collision is being investigated by the SAPS.
