February 4, 2016 • Accidents, Bike

Earlier today EMER-G-MED’s RV6, M03 and A03 attended to a serious motorbike collision on the corners of Mulbarton Street and Pommern Avenue in Robindale, Randburg.

On arrival paramedics found that a light delivery vehicle and a motorbike had been involved in a collision, allegedly after the LDV did a U-turn and the biker skipped the stop street.

On assessment the motorcyclist was in a critical condition with a long bone fracture, as well as serious suspected internal injuries. The biker required Advanced Life Support interventions.

Due to the seriousness of the patient’s injuries the Netcare1 Aeromedical helicopter was called in to airlift the man to a nearby specialist trauma centre for further care.

The driver of the LDV sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby facility for further assessment.

Local authorities were on-scene to investigate the events leading up to the collision.
