Drug arrests made in Tshwane CBD

Drug dealing and drug use is an ongoing battle facing our society today. The Tshwane Metro police Department has been working tirelessly to address this drug problem, we have made a commitment to fight the drug problem in the City. Through the commitment of our drug unit and assistance from the community, the fight against drug use and drug dealing can become a success.

This morning around 08h00, TMPD officers received a tip off about drugs that were sold in a flat in the Tshwane CBD. The officers attended to the tip off and they arrested two Tanzanian males aged 32 and 33, they were found in possession of cocaine and rock with an estimated value of R12000. The two suspects are expected to appear in court soon.

Earlier this week, one suspect was arrested in the Lyttelton area for dealing and possession of drugs when he was found in possession of 24 heroin baggies.

TMPD will continue to intensify operations in relation to drugs and substance abuse. School searches are conducted by TMPD social crime prevention unit to tackle drug use in schools. The unit also conducts drug education and awareness throughout Tshwane targeting schools and shopping centers.

Those who are found to have a drug addiction are assisted and are sent to rehabilitation centers within the city while enforcing the law on drug dealers.
