MEC Ntuli opens P415 between Mandeni and Tugela Mouth

December 20, 2019 • News, Road Works

Kwazulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mr Bheki Ntuli officially opened main road P415, which is located between Mandeni and Tugela Mouth, under the Mandeni Local Municipality, in the Ilembe District. This forms part of celebrating his One Hundred Days in Office and is symbolic of his vision of ensuring that service delivery and job creation is prioritised.

The project entailed the upgrading of 4.29 kilometres from existing gravel to blacktop standard.
This road serves the local communities by providing access to the North Coast Christian Academy, Mandeni Primary School, Cranburn Primary School, New Life Academy, Mangethe Primary School, Khula Kancane Clinic, the Tugela Rail Clinic as well as the Mandeni Satellite Clinic.

Current traffic studies have recorded that approximately 2114 light vehicles and 318 heavy vehicles pass on the road each day. Due to the increase in economic activity and the growing agricultural sector in this area upgrading main road P415 now provides easy access to neighbouring towns as well as for public transportation and tourism vehicles.

The project was successfully completed in December 2018 at a cost of R63.6 million.
