Deputy Minister Chikunga invites public servants to a Webinar on mental health during the COVID 19 pandemic

Deputy Minister for the Public Service and Administration, Ms Sindisiwe Chikunga will lead a panel of discussion on the mental health of public servants during this COVID 19 pandemic.

The dialogue which will take place through a webinar will comprise of health experts from government and private sector and is planned to take place on Tuesday, 28 July 2020, from 14 h00 to 17h00.

The event happens at a backdrop of July being the Mental Illness Awareness Month and Government’s efforts to reduce stigma and discrimination against those who find themselves infected with the Corona virus.

Public servants have been on the forefront of the fight against the pandemic since the announcement of the State of National Disaster by President Cyril Ramaphosa, with some contracting the virus.

As a result, government has put strategies in place to respond to psycho- social needs of public servants in line with the Employee Health and Wellness Strategic Framework for the Public Service to prevent mental health illnesses, promote and support during treatment as part of stigma reduction, during this period.

The virtual public engagement is scheduled to take place as follows:
