Fifty-seven suspects were arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol in Gauteng on Monday
Fifty-seven suspects were arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol in Gauteng on Monday, 15 December 2025. These suspects were arrested at the roadblocks that were conducted on the freeways across the province.
Furthermore, police together with Immigration Officers, arrested 160 illegal immigrants.
More than one hundred (100) other suspects were arrested in the province for crime that include possession of illegal firearm, dealing in drugs, attempted murder, theft of motor vehicle, assault and possession of suspected stolen goods.
The operations are aimed at ensuring that the people in Gauteng are safe and protected as they enjoy the festive season.
Gauteng police together with other law enforcement agencies will continue to conduct such roadblocks, where they will search for illicit goods, hijacked/stolen vehicles and ensuring that road users are safe as they leave and enter Gauteng Province.
Police visibility has been intensified at the shopping malls, taxi ranks, bus terminus and other places that are regarded as hotspots this time of the year.
