Bloemfontein K9 arrests three and recover over R60 000 in narcotics during targeted patrols

Efforts to rid the streets of Bloemfontein of illegal substances yielded significant results today as the Bloemfontein K9 Unit apprehended three suspects in two separate incidents, seizing drugs with an estimated street value of R62 000.

At approximately 10:40, members of the Bloemfontein K9 Unit were conducting routine patrols in the Willows area. While near a block of flats, the vigilant officers spotted a suspicious silver Hyundai carrying two occupants.

​The members tactically followed and intercepted the vehicle. Upon conducting a thorough search of the car, police discovered a stash of Crystal Meth, Mandrax, and Khat. The narcotics carry an estimated street value of R22 000. A 32-year-old male and a 23-year-old female were immediately placed under arrest.

Simultaneously, a second K9 team operating in the northern sector of the city followed up on actionable intelligence regarding drug peddling in Bainsvlei. The team proceeded to a residential address where a 37-year-old male suspect was apprehended. During the search of his home, officers recovered a significant quantity of Mandrax, Khat, and Crystal Meth valued at approximately R40 000.

The three suspects face charges related to the possession of and dealing in drugs. They are expected to make their first appearance in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court soon.
