Hijack Victim Dumped On Roadside: Inanda – KZN
A 28-year-old man was dumped on the side of the road following a hijacking in Verulam – KZN today (Wednesday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to a hardware business in Inanda – KZN after the victim sought assistance from employees.
On arrival, the male informed Reaction Officers that he is employed as a driver for a sub-contractor for the Ethekwini Municipality. He transported Plumbers from Ottawa – KZN to a suburb in Verulam – KZN (exact area unknown) and parked on the side of the road while the Plumbers conducted maintenance on water pipes. The victim is a resident of Ntuzuma – KZN and unfamiliar with the Verulam – KZN area.
A white vehicle (make, model & registration unknown) stopped and three (3) armed men confronted him. They sped off with him in his Toyota Hilux 2.8 GD6. The suspects dumped him on the side of the road in Inanda – KZN. The victim proceeded to the hardware store and employees contacted the RUSA Operations Centre for assistance. The male was not injured.
The bakkie was recovered abandoned by a Vehicle Tracking Company in Inanda – KZN shortly thereafter.
