Police on the West Coast rid communities of drugs
WESTERN CAPE – Police on the West Coast of the Western Cape are conducting safer festive season operations to ensure that communities are rid of the distribution of drugs on Wednesday.
Laaiplek police followed up information about drugs at a premises in Aristea Street, Noordhoek, where they searched the premises and found seven packets containing cocaine in the house. A 25-year-old male was arrested for the possession of drugs.
At another premises in Aristea Street, the members searched the house and confiscated 50 mandrax tablets and two packets containing dagga and arrested an adult male for the possession of drugs.
The suspects are due to appear in the Velddrif Magistrates’ Court today.
In an unrelated matter in Leon Court, Ottery, Cape Town, members of the Anti-Gang Unit received information about firearms in a vehicle. They followed up the information and found the vehicle abandoned. Upon searching the vehicle the members found two 9mm pistols with ammunition under the passenger seat. The investigation into the discovery of the vehicle and the firearms continues.
