Success with counterfeit goods operation in Johannesburg Central, Johannesburg District and Soshanguve, Tshwane District
The Gauteng Counterfeit unit, in collaboration with Brand Protectors, conducted operations in Johannesburg Central, Johannesburg District and Soshanguve, Tshwane District, targeting counterfeit and illicit goods from 02 December 2025 to 05 December 2025.
During the operation six shops and one storage room were searched and counterfeit goods, contraband and illicit goods were seized. In Johannesburg Central, 20 680 counterfeit items were seized, valued at R18 841 660, including makeup, clothing, shoes, watches, and consumables.
In Soshanguve, 793 counterfeit items were seized, valued at R479 310, including clothing, cellphone accessories, and consumables.
